History of the Joe Andreano

Where it all began…

Joe Andreano and his family, Karen, Kelly and Megan, have been our family friends for over 35 years, and we have become one big family! Those who knew Joe were so fortunate because he was truly amazing. He was defined in so many ways: best friend, dad, son, husband, brother, appreciator of the finer things in life, mentor and for sure, an avid golfer!

The Joe Andreano Memorial Golf Tournament began in 2021 in memory of Joe. Because of Joe’s battle with lung cancer, we knew we needed to raise money for lung cancer research. In 2021 we enjoyed great success with 40 golfers raising $10,000.00 donated to the American Cancer Society.

In 2022, we learned Joe had used services from the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation, which is now GO2 for Lung Cancer. We formed a partnership and built upon our 2021 successes. We grew to 100 golfers and raised $50,000. Then in 2023, we grew even more, hosting 144 golfers and raising over $75,000. Our goals for 2024 are to once again sell out with 144 golfers participate and raise $100,000.

In 2024, proceeds will continue to benefit GO2 for Lung Cancer and will do so through the newly formed Joe Andreano Fund.

We are so honored to partner with such a wonderful non-profit. GO2 for Lung Cancer is the result of a 2019 merger between two of the most effective and influential nonprofit organizations serving the lung cancer community, the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation (ALCF) and Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA). Together they represent 30 years of experience. Click here to find out more about the history of the two founding organizations.

GO2 for Lung Cancer relentlessly confronts lung cancer on every front, every day, for everyone. Founded by patients and survivors, they are dedicated to increasing survival for those at risk, diagnosed and living with lung cancer.

We hope you will join us this year.

Warmest regards,

Tony and Lil Giovanzana
