Carolyn Raynor's Run In Honor Of Nancy Raynor
A couple days into January 2018, we got the terrible news that my mother-in-law, Nancy, was diagnosis with stage 4 lung cancer. Leading up to the holiday season the hustle and bustle of decorating, shopping, prepping and wrapping, Nancy was expirencing some back pain, which she kept to herself figuring it was attributed to the holiday running around, but when she then had shortness of breath on top of the pain, she was advised to go to the hospital. That was when the root of the pain was discovered. Within a week her schedule was filled with doctor appointments, which soon lead to treatment. The pain and side effects she expirenced was heartbreaking to watch, leaving her family feeling helpless to comfort her. Nancy fought the battle for 6 months before passing in mid June of that year. During that time the endless outreach and support we were given was incredible. Our family, friends and community went above and beyond to help us. We lost a strong woman that year, and so that brings me to this point, a chance to honor her, while giving back to help families that unfortunately are going through the same struggles our family went through.
I will be running in the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon to raise funds for GO2 for Lung Cancer.
Please help me meet my fundraising goal and support GO2 by making a donation today!
The funds I raise will advance GO2 for Lung Cancer's mission to transform survivorship by providing one-on-one assistance to patients and families, improving health policies, leading national advocacy efforts and conducting innovative research. Thank you for your support!
