Rodney was a New Castle native and Union Area High School standout athlete. He was a career Secret Service Agent serving and protecting four different U.S. Presidents - Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Trump. After his unexplainable lung cancer diagnosis in 2018, and frustration with research funding levels, he became an advocate for GO2 for Lung Cancer. His participation in endurance running events to raise funding and awareness was an inspiration to many. Tragically, at age 47, he lost his fight in January of 2021. There may have been some who fought lung cancer just as hard, but no one has fought harder than he did.
